2019 EVENT
We have entered a team for the Junior Sixes in 2021 – full details to follow
Golf Sixes is an exciting new major initiative introduced in 2019 by Scottish Golf to allow “new to the game” Juniors to participate in “friendly” inter club matches – all squad members must be a member of Swanston Golf Club.
The target market is young players, under 14, without handicaps or a handicap of more than 36.
The league starts for Swanston on Sunday 2oth of June at 4.00pm
Kids get a Sixes team top and goody bag
We are hoping to get a squad of at least between 9 and 12 players and teams of 6 will be picked for each match, teams will go out in 3 pairs – all squad members will play in at least 2 games.
The format is a Texas Scramble with a Shotgun start – 2 groups of 2 on each tee to start.
It should therefore only take about an hour to 75 minutes to complete the matches.
Cost is £3 on the day

It is really good fun, basically like the fun nights we’ve run recently but much more structured, all designed at easing young players into competitive golf in a fun and relaxed way.
Scores are all recorded, and a running League table will be published, and prizes at each event.
These Sixes events, combined with our planned Junior nights and first option access to junior coaching, will really differentiate Swanston Junior membership from a Stephen Gallacher only membership.
Sixes is open to Junior members of Swanston only and all Swanston junior members get the chance to take part in all our activities before we open it up to the general public.
Parents with kids who compete will need to help on the day to help make it a success, this could simply be going round with own kid/s for the 9 holes, and/or helping out with the food afterwards, there will be light food served for any the 36 kids who compete and want food
I think these events should create a bit of buzz and will be good for the Club as well as our Juniors, but it will obviously involve teamwork to make it all happen.
