The first of the thirteen finals was played on Thursday when Andrew Murdoch beat Chris West in the final of the 5 Day Members Championship

On Friday the Girls Junior Under 14 final between Summer Xie and Alannah Nichol was played over 9 holes and the winner at the 3rd extra hole was Summer Xie.

Also on Friday the Under 12 Championship was held on the Templar Course – this involved the completion of the quarter finals, the semi finals, both over 9 holes and the final over 18 holes and the winner after that marathon was also the lowest qualifier, Ethan Davie who beat Joe Fleming, Joe had three practice rounds on the Templar Course before the start of the quarter finals !

Staying with our fantastic junior section and moving onto Saturday, in the Under 14 final Harry Williamson successfully retained the title he won last year by beating Liam Somerville who almost made both finals of the junior events!

The Junior Club Championship was won by Taylor Russell who beat Oscar Liang – Oscar having only arrived home from a holiday in Portugal a few hours before tee off.
Taylor was a second time winner yesterday when he also won the Taylor Made Special Edition Tour Bag in the raffle to raise money for the Butterfly Trust – thank you to Scott Gourlay for donating the bag.

The Senior B Championship was contested by a couple of the Clubs “Swingers” Willie Firth and Ian Tennant and on this occasion it was Willie who was victorious.

The Senior A Championship was a closely fought match between, Club Captain, Graeme Millar and the very experienced Andy Hunter which went to the first extra hole, where Graeme managed to win.

The Ladies Bronze final was between last years winner, Margaret MacConnachie and Sara Allan who has done great to reach the final in her first year playing the main course – well done though to Margaret who successfully managed to retain her title.

The Ladies Championship saw history being made at the Club as it was decided this year to allow any juniors good enough to play in the championship.
Both Summer Xie and Alannah Nichol played in the qualifying rounds and indeed met in the semi finals last week where Alannah on that occasion was the winner.
This set up Saturdays final between the holder, Susan Greenfield and Alannah, and it was Alannah who won and became the Ladies Club Championship at 11 years old.

The C Club championship was between George Clark one of the ex Lothianburn gang and the colourful Wez Cowley and it was Wez who was victorious.
Wez was beaten in the final of the B Section last year – so I hope he sees this as progress !

The B Section final was between Gregor Cram and Ross Ferguson – Ross mentioned that his father won the B Section Championship 39 years ago and was in great form to add his name to the trophy by winning against Gregor.

The A Plate finalists were Stuart Steel and Scott Leishman both players more than capable of playing in the main championship.
On this occasion it was Stuart who emerged as the winner – third time lucky hopefully for Scott who also lost in the final last year!

The Club Championship this year was contested between Malcolm Campbell and Ross Fergus over 36 holes.
The first round started at 9.00am in breezy conditions with occasional showers with Malcolm building an early 2 hole lead which Ross managed to claw back before finishing all square at lunch.
Again at 1.20pm, the start of the second round it was showery and a fair breeze was still blowing – this time Ross got his nose in front early on going 2 up however back came Malcolm to be 1 up after 11 and with Ross winning the twelfth they were back to all square crossing the road.
Holes 13 to 17 were all halved and it was Malcolm who won at the 36th hole to record his seventh title.

Malcom is one of those who believes it’s unlucky to touch the trophy before the event!

Well Done once again to all the competitors whether you were a winner or a qualifier.

A big thanks to everyone in the Shop, Cameron in the Bar, David Morrans and the volunteer parents during the junior events, your caddies and the referees.

Until Next Year !
