Midlothian Five-a-side Team Result :
Liberton 5 v Swanston 0
The Ladies Team got their new season underway with an away match against Liberton. The course was in excellent condition so there was no excuses for bad play. The Team were under pressure from the start, weakened with the loss of some of last years team, and most of the Team giving away many shots to handicap, but they did all what was expected of them. Susie for the first time took over the no 1 spot, over the years she has been encouraged from experienced players never to give up in match play and against the top Liberton player she showed character to go to the 16th before just missing out. Possibly she didn’t get as many “birdies” as in past medal rounds! Muriel, having moved up to no 2, which will be a challenge, but her improved form since last season she was able to hang on until the 16th too. Louise a new regular team member in the squad played her best and was not overawed by her opponent taking her to 15th. Margaret again relatively new to Team matches had a most inspiring match and giving 10 shots away too her opponent, she had a super game but she too managed to the 16th. Possibly with the most difficult task off scratch and giving away 18 to handicap, Liz put in a superb performance, winning a couple of holes too, but eventually giving way to her stronger opponent. The weather held up and the wind dropped for us and then to finish the evening we were treated to a lovely meal and hospitality by the Liberton chef and Lady Team members.
