Les BELL won division 2 going out in 38 coming back in 41 with 1 birdie and 6 pars beating John HERCUS by 1 shot. Brian WHERRETT won division 3 going out in 48 coming back in 43 with 1 birdie and 2 pars beating David BLYTH by 8 shots.
May 11th Herbert More Trophy
Paul Matthews won division 1 going out in 34 coming back in 38 with 2 birdies and 12 pars beating Scott Leishman by 1 shot. William Firth won division 2 going out in 41 coming back in 39 with 9 pars beating Malcolm Brown by 1 shot. Adlai Senussi won division 3 going out in 46 coming back in 46 with 3 pars beating Brian Robertson in a card play off.
And 3rd in division 1 was Martin Baker – who hit a HOLE-IN-ONE at the 17th.
May 5th Gents Spring Medal
Paul Stewart won division 1 going out in 32 coming back in 31 with 1 eagle,7 birdies and 8 pars (a gross and nett score of just 63!) beating Graeme Bloomer by 3 shots. Alastair Maxwell won division 2 going out in 43 coming back in 40 with 2 birdies and 6 pars beating Mark Lindsay in a card play off. Alistair Storrie won division 3 going out in 49 coming back in 49 with 2 pars beating Duncan Collinson by 5 shots.
April 13th
A great turnout on Saturday for the Season Opening Captains v Vice Captains Match for the Luke’s Cup.
The weather was bright but a bit chilly however the course was in great condition considering how early in the year it is.
In the closest match for a few years, once again The Captain and his team were victorious by 9 shots – 679 to 688 and retained Luke’s Cup which was presented to The Captain by Luke’s Granddad Rab Ure.
Two teams had the best score on the day – two excellent 62’s – The Captains Team, with Gregor Cram, John Cuthbertson & Rab Knowles and Ross Fergus’s Team, with Martin Newcombe, Malcolm Brown & Joe Murray.
£178 was raised for charity.
March 23rd
Congratulations to Adlai Senussi – A HOLE IN ONE – on the 17th, whilst recording a winning 40-point score in the Saturday Winter Stableford.

The CLUB FORUM scheduled for Tuesday the 26th of March has been re-arranged for Tuesday the 23rd of April.
The Club Captain does not return from holiday until 12th of April and as it is anticipated there will be a few questions from the members relating to the new academy it is important the Captain is at the Forum.
The Forum will start at 7pm
CAPTAIN v VICE CAPTAINS MATCH – LUKE’S CUP
Our Annual Opening Day Event will take place on Saturday 13th of April 9.00am for a 9.30am start.
The event is open to ALL MEMBERS including 5 day and Academy/Templar members of the Club (with or without Handicap).
This year the format will again be a Shotgun Start Texas Scramble (3 or 4 person teams depending on the number of entries). Please note you should enter as an individual not as part of a team as the teams will be drawn nearer the time .
Food will be provided after the match.
There will be no charge for this event though we hope all participants will make a donation on the day towards our local Marie Curie Hospice.

R&A – The New Rules of Golf effective from 1st January 2019
Many members are already aware of the recent R&A announcement that the Rules of Golf are changing with effect from 1st January 2019.
Whether you are aware or not of the changes it is worthwhile reading on.
The process to modernise the Rules began in 2012 and was initiated to ensure that the Rules are easier to understand and apply for all golfers, and also to make the game more attractive and accessible for newcomers.
Some of the new rules are quite different, particularly in relation to lost balls, hazards etc. I have listed below some of the main changes.I would urge all members to look at the new rules in more detail (link to the R&A website below) and take some time to familiarise themselves with them, you will definitely benefit from knowing and understanding the changes.
The R&A are hopeful that one of the main benefits to the new rules is that they will help speed up play. This will only be the case if everyone knows the rules, so please ensure that you take the time to read them.

The Winner was Alistair Somerville seen on the left of the picture – Alan was the beaten finalist last year too !
